  • Stocking: The last stocking of 1,000 lbs. was last week. The next catfish stocking will be the week of August 23rd. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake! For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? A variety of catches this weekend! The panfish are biting particularly from the shoreline in Siesta and Cloister Coves. There's a nice shelf along the shoreline opposite the boat dock that provides cover for redear and bluegill. Nightcrawlers are reeling them in. Keep an eye on the sunfish spawn, because the bass will be nearby! Anglers are using drop shot and green pumpkin Hogs and Roboworms. The catfish are biting in the evenings. Friday and Saturday nights have been productive. Mackerel and chicken livers are the baits of choice, but if those don't work for you try switching it up - spam, cheese, hot dogs can be effective baits as well.  
  • Lake Open on Labor Day: On Monday, September 6th the lake will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Boat rentals and launches are available. There are a few sites left in our campground for the holiday weekend. Click HERE to book a reservation.

  • Job Openings: We're hiring for several positions at the lake. We are looking for two part-time Assistant Recreation Rangers to work in the bait shop as well as an Assistant Maintenance Ranger to help maintain the property and facilities. In our campground, we are currently hiring for a Volunteer Park Host. Park Hosts work in our campground in exchange for a campsite that includes water and electricity under a month-to-month lease agreement. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding these positions, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
  • Lakefront Firepit Rentals: Firepit rentals are available at the lake Friday, August 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They are $72 per pit and can accommodate up to 6 people. Wood, fire starter, and Adirondack chairs are included. Fees and advance reservation are required. No four-legged friends please! You can rent a firepit online by clicking HERE. If you'd like to purchase any of our add-on packages, i.e. s'mores kit, tailgate party, glow party, etc. call (619) 596-1306.
  • Campground News: The campground shoreline is open to the public for fishing every day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Buy a fishing permit at the campground kiosk and enjoy access to the Sentry Point shoreline. Don't forget to take a pic in the big green chair and tag us so we can load a free fishing permit on to your account!
