After the stock on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday found the Lake in a Tailwalking frenzy! Thursday the fish were caught in all areas all along the shoreline with all bait varieties and Friday they had moved to their usual favorite holes like Half Moon Bay and Hidden Bay. Boaters found success as well and the bite in deeper water really picked up on Saturday morning, especially from Pine Point to Bucktail Bay. There have been some monster trout caught in the last few days and avid trout fisherman John Thomas finally roped in his largest here at Lake Poway when he reeled in a scale tipping 10 pounder while using a rapala in Hidden Bay on Thursday. Another large Tailwalker was landed on Friday by catfish guru Roger Damian in Half Moon Bay. It weighed in at 7.5 pounds. Both trophies were caught in the middle of the day and it seems as if there is a pattern of the larger fish being caught at that time.

Boats have found continued success by slow trolling or drifting nightcrawlers or lures in deeper water. Thomas Buoyants are still proving successful and once you catch a fish or get a bite; stop the boat and cast. This week boats have done well from Pine Point to Bucktail Bay once again. Boulder Bay has also produced a lot of fish.

The catfish are still biting in the deeper water on the Log Boom on baits such as chicken liver and mackerel and the occasional large panfish is being caught. The bass bite is getting hotter as they move to the rockpiles in anticipation of the spawn. Bass fishermen have found success on creature baits and by drop-shotting soft plastics in 20 to 50 feet of water near structure.
