Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: With the weather changing it has?? been a variable bite. Warm days fast bite, cold days slow bite. The bait dunkers are having the best success. The inventory of trout is in the anglers favor. Its a mixed size stringer with some bigger fish to keep it interesting. (2) tagged Alpers trout are still eluding anglers. Catching a tagged trout will win a certificate for a (1) one night stay in the Cuyamaca Condo's (weekday).??

Trout Bait: 12-24 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power bait,?? salmon eggs.???? (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures:?? Gold Panther Martins and Tube Jigs. Use scent!?? (Krill gel works best)
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, North Shore Line, Tee Dock.
Notable: Thomas Morales, 5lbs Rainbow, Power Worm, Pump House Cove. Bob Schliender, El Cajon, 3 lbs 12 oz Tagged Alpers Trout, (good for Condo and Rod and Reel Combo from Lakeside Bait and Tackle) night crawler/ power bait, Island. Noah Munoz, (age 9), Rancho Penasquitos,3lbs Rainbow, night crawler, Jetty. Courtney Mesom, Escondido, (age 10 first fish), 2lbs 8oz Rainbow, power bait, launch ramp. Jack Newman, San Diego, 2lbs 4oz Rainbow, power bait/ night crawler, shore.
Fly Fishing:??Try a?? Black Wooly Bugger, Olive Matuka, Egg Sucking Leach, slow retrieve.
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be conducted by Clint Powell March 4, 2007.The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: ?? Ranger Willard?? will teach??tried and true trout techniques using?? bait, tube jigs and lures for trout.
Prognosis:!! As the water temps continue to rise the bite can only improve. Try trolling with gold Panther Martins and bright colored small spoons. Bait: fish in closer to shore use scent and keep it moving.?? Short leaders(12-24 inch) proving to be successful. Water Temp 42deg. Please feel free to ask our staff any questions you may have.
Winter Hours Starting January 29th thru February 28th: Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri.8 A.M.-4 P.M. Saturday and Sunday 6 A.M.- 4:30 P.M.
