To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays in October. The lake is closed for weekday fishing. We will remain open on weekends only until mid-December and the first trout plant.

Catfish are biting throughout the lake. Cut mackerel and chicken liver are the top baits for cats. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that is excellent for catfish.

Small to medium sized bass are being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure. They are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.

Crappie are being caught in small numbers in the early morning hours. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs.
