Poway, CA ??? As a result of erosion damage caused by the recent heavy rainfall, the Lake Poway Recreation Area will continue to be closed until further notice. Every effort is being made to open the lake as soon as possible, however, the park and lake closure is necessary to enable cleanup of the damage, and to install future preventative erosion measures. The City of Poway's foremost concern is to continue to protect the City's water supply for Poway residents. The annual Trout Season scheduled to begin on December 5 is postponed until the lake areas can be safely reopened to the public.

When Lake Poway reopens for fishing and boating, park patrons can expect limited shoreline access to the West shoreline. Other park amenities will continue to be restricted, due to continuing repair and restoration work needed; these restricted areas may include the lower and upper trails, archery range, upper green areas, volleyball courts, horse staging area, and the Lake Poway ball field.

Please visit the City of Poway website at www.poway.org for the most up-to-date park conditions and fishing restrictions. For more information, please call the Lake Poway office (858) 668-4770 or the Lake Poway concession at (858) 486-1234
