Last Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 31st.
Next Plant: 6,000 lbs of rainbow trout Saturday December 12th.
Water temperature: At surface 57.20 f., 8.29 D.O. @ 10’ 56.12 f., 8.33 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake is currently closed for weekday fishing. We will be open seven days a week beginning December 12th.

The big trout opener is just a week away and the excitement is palpable. The initial plant is a sizeable one (6,000 lbs) and should get things off to a roaring start. There will be six consecutive weekly plants to start the season, 10,000+ lbs. in December alone. Weather could be a factor and space for shore fishing has been constricted due to the spread of native bull-rushes so be sure and get out early, or consider renting a boat, in order to fish the prime locations. All in all, it promises to be a great season for trout fishing here at Lake Wohlford.

The bass bite has been solid with mostly small to medium sized bass being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure and are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.

Catfish are still being caught around the lake. The larger catfish are more readily caught at this time of the year than any other. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.
