PRESS RELEASE
Date: February 9, 2008
Park Hours: 6:00 AM???5:30 PM, Dailey
Boat Dock Closes: 4:30 PM, Dailey
Last Stock: February 6 ??? 1200 pounds of Rainbow Trout
Next Stock: February (11???15) ??? 1200 pounds of Rainbow Trout
Water Temperature: 51??
Water Level: Slowly dropping
The trout action has improved over the past week. The best baits have
been rainbow and green power bait, night crawlers and small gold
Kastmasters proving best. The Buoy Line and Trout Cove areas have
been seeing the best action. Try using light line (2 to 4-pound), water
bobbers, and fishing from the bottom of the lake for better success. Most
anglers are reporting average size trout from Trout Cove and other areas.
The last stock was planted February 6, with 1200 pounds of rainbow trout.
Dixon is planting another 1200 pounds of rainbows the week of February
11???15.
No catfish were reported this week. With the recent rain, this usually
turns the bite around. The catfish are mostly hitting on cut mackerel and
night crawlers. The "BEST" action is on the shoreline at the northeast
corner of Whisker Bay and Jack Creek Cove area next to Pier #3.
Even with the colder water temperatures upon us, the bass action was a
little slower this week. A few local bass anglers reported very good
fishing adjacent to the Boat Dock Cove area in between piers. This was
definitely a "LATE" afternoon bite. The bass were caught on any length
of black and purple or brown/purple plastic worms.
The New Year has arrived and so has the time to purchase the new 2008
California state fishing licenses. Dixon Lake concession has in stock
annual (1 YEAR) licenses, and 1 or 2-day licenses for sale. A second rod
stamp is also available for those who want to fish with two fishing rods. RAINBOW TROUT
