Tackle tips from the "Wheelhouse" By Scott McDaniels Line size 40, 50, 60, 80 pound mono. Spectra backing 60, 80, or 100 pound spectra. Match your fluorocarbon leaders to the mono. " Don't mess around with the Mono to Fluorocarbon. 40 fluoro to 40 or 50 pound mono. 50 fluoro to 50 or 60 pound mono. 60 fluoro to 60 or 80 pound mono. Hook Size and types not all but most skippers like Ringed Circle hooks. sometimes harder to get a bite but always the last hook to rip out on a quality fish. Sinkers not needed in a hot bite but bring some they work good in the gray bite, and sometimes work well in a slow plunker. Chrome torpedo type with a rubber band various sizes 2 oz, 3 oz, 4 oz, and 6 oz, if it's windy use a 8 oz. Fish 150 feet deep to as deep as 300 feet deep. Flat fall jigs are working as are the Colt Snippers. Trolling sucks but do it anyway while the boat is moving. Giant Cedar plugs, or if conditions are right a Yummie flier. Most recommended line size 50 pound Mono with 50 pound fluorocarbon with 80 pound spectra backing "top shot of mono" 100 feet long to allow for one or two reties.
