Both the San Diego and Sea Watch on three quarter day trips combined for 114 yellowfin tuna in the 15-25lb class.
The Eclipse returned from a one day rental rod charter with 54 yellowfin tuna for their efforts.
There are large schools of yellowfin tuna offshore but not everyone of them bites every time. Make sure to bring a 20lb outfit with a 20lb fluorocarbon leader and a #2 hook as 75% of the fish hooked are on this rig. I would also bring a 40-50lb outfit just in case you run into the larger bluefin tuna or a school of yellowfin tuna that want to bite wide open. You never know what you might hook fishing offshore.
