Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: Stocking this week!!!! Mt. Lassen will stock 1,200 lbs of there finest trout. This will add to the inventory and angling pleasure for you. East Lake should bust wide open with the weather we have had, it is open to all anglers, must have a fishing permit. Pump House Cove is the hot spot with bait providing the action for anglers on the shore line. Boat anglers enjoying trolling and bait in the South End, Lone Pine and Flats producing limits of quality trout. Water remains stained so "scent" will be a must.
OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM---SUNSET
Trout Bait: 12-16 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait. Power Worms fished below a bobber. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures: Orange Rapala, Thomas Buoyant, Yellow Roster Tail. Use scent (Krill gel works best)
Best Trout Spots: Pumphouse Cove, Island, Fox Hole, Lone Pine, Chambers Park.
Notable: No fish over 3lbs ( limits of mixed size trout in 2-4 hours).
Fly Fishing: With water temps warming some action reported on Olive Matukas and Wooly Buggers. With more trout in the East Lake its only a matter of time !!! This week ?????
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be rescheduled .The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true cold water trout tactics, using Baits, Tube Jigs, and Lures.
Prognosis:!! With the stocking of trout from Mt Lassen and the spring weather conditions the bite will continue to be steady. Trolling with Rapalas, Roster Tails and Thomas Buoyants providing action. The pumps are on so Pump House Cove will be continue to produce quality fish. Trolling is getting better by the day. For a successful limit of trout try bait on the shore lines. East Lake is open to anglers and float tubes (must be inspected before launch). The East Lake should bust wide open any day!!!! Water temp.51-53 deg.
