Catching the Spotlight.
It was a great week of fishing at Santee Lakes. We held another night fishing event on Thursday. Kevin Lee (right) of San Diego caught a few catfish that night. He was using mackerel and was fishing in Lake 4. Chad (left) caught a monster this week. He caught this 10 lb. 8 oz. bass out of Lake 2. He caught it Friday on a Finco. Keep sending in those fishing pictures for a chance to be featured in the weekly fish reports! This month, when you purchase a fishing permit on Tuesday at the General Store, you can buy Wednesday’s permit in advance for half price! Stockzilla is just around the corner. We will be stocking all of our lakes with catfish and the shore line on the west side of Lakes 2 and 3 will be reopened!
Lake Lowdown
Avg. Water Temp: 80.2°F Water Clarity: 1ft. The catfish bite remains consistent. Most of these fish are being caught on mackerel. Bluegill have been biting incredibly well lately. Most anglers are using red worms or meal worms. The bass bite has picked up again. Anglers targeting these fish have had the most luck with soft plastics.
