Hello from Lake Jennings! Our focus is on our Family Day this Saturday. It is the
same day as DFG's "No License Day". Everyone can fish for free from 5:30 AM
until midnight AND we have a tackle bag for the first 500 kids 15 and under.
Lanterns are required if you plan to fish after 8 PM. We will stock 1000 lbs of catfish
on June 4th. This weekend produced mostly cats and a few red ear sunfish. Half
Moon was the best spot with quite a few cat limits, elsewhere it was a fish here and one over there. Bass
wanted stuff dragged off the bank during the lowlight hours. The rest of the day they were hibernating.
Best Trout Spots: The boat dock, fishing float and buoyline triangle.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Nightcrawlers drifted about 40 to 80 feet down.
Best Catfish Spots: The bird trees, Half Moon and Hermit Coves and anywhere there is brush in the water.
Best Catfish Bait: Nightcrawlers are really working well or mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: At night on the bank in 5 ft. of water in brush and under trees. Daylight finds them in 20 to 30 ft. off the points chasing shad.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Bass Assassins, dropshotting 4" shad colored worms. Swimbaits.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs reported or limits in 30 minutes.
Prognosis: Fish Producers are bringing 1000 lbs. of cats this Wed. The topwater bite for bass still isn't. The forecasted HOT weather may be what it takes to kick that off.
Water Temperature: 70-72 degrees.
Current Night Fishing Schedule: We will be open Friday from 5:00 p.m. ??? 11:45 p.m., Saturday from 5:30 a.m. ??? 11:45 p.m. and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. ??? 8:30 p.m.
Discounted Sunday Boat Rental: We have created a twilight special for our motorboats. After 4:00PM on Sundays, motorboats can be rented for $20.00. That gives you over 4 hours of primetime fishing.
FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about fishing cats. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Lake Jennings Park Family Day ??? Saturday, June 7, 2008
Sponsored by Helix Water District
June 7, 2008 is the Dept. of Fish and Game's "No License" Required Day
Fishing Fees also waived.
18 1???2 hours of fishing. 5:30 AM until Midnight. Lantern Required after 8 PM
Gifts for the first 500 kids that check in.
1,000 lbs of catfish will be stocked.
Volunteers will be available to help beginners get started.
In years past, we found that a lot of kids were unable to attend our Kids Day events because they were held in the morning and they had other activities. Often times parents did not have a State license so they were unable to fish. Our thinking is to make it possible for everyone to come fish for a day with their family at no charge.
Hope to see you and your family on June 7th!

Lake JenningsLake Jennings Weekly Catch and Release May 27, 2008 Hello from Lake Jennings! The cold weather dampened the enthusiasm of the fish and the anglers that pursued them. Trout are being caught in 30 ft. of water by drifting crawlers or Power Bait out in the middle of the lake. Bassin' is fair with dropshotting small worms working best. The aerator is on and that should drive the shad to the surface. Cats are the main bill of fare. Hermit Cove was...... Read More

Lake JenningsLake Jennings Weekly Catch and Release April 21, 2008 Hello from Lake Jennings! Trolling continues to be good for trout between the boat dock and the fishing float. The Cactus Patch and a new spot over in Sentry Cove are producing trout from a boat using Power Bait or Gulp. The bass are in transition. More fish have moved back away from shore into 15 to 25 ft. of water. Swim baits have been effective on those fish. Drop-shotting worms in the brush are...... Read More
