Last Week's Results and This Week's Prognosis For Immediate Catch and Release
June 22, 2008

Summer Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: The heat wave has had a cooling effect on the trout bite. Anglers using bait still catching trout early AM and later in the evening. Trolling Rapalas and bright colored Rooster tails providing some action. Reliable as always, the Crappie are plentiful, taking tube jigs below a bobber. Bullhead Catfish will not pass up a night crawler on the bottom. Some bass action on plastics.

Great news for the private boaters we are building a wash station and it should be up and running early July, details will be posted here and on the Cuyamaca Kids Derby website.

We are now taking reservations for the new RV group camp located in the Over flow area The area is set up for a total of 8 rigs but has a minimum of 4. The rate is $200.00 a night for all 8 sites. Call 877-581-9904 for info..

OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM--- SUNSET

Trout Bait: 24"-30"inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Rainbow Power Bait seems to be their favorite. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)

Best Trout Lures: Orange and Fire Tiger Rapalas, bright colored Rooster Tails. Use scent (Krill gel works best)

Best Trout Spots: T-Dock, Lone Pine, Chambers Park and the dike to Fletcher Island.

Notable: Boy Scout Troop 1203, Mira Mesa, 7lbs Channel Cat, Night crawler, Dike. lots of Crappie). Brooks Beckman, San Diego, 2lbs 8oz Rainbow, Night crawler, Buoy Line. Jonney Oliver & Dad, Alpine, 50 Crappie, Jigs, all over. Cody Cornett, Julian, 11lbs Largemouth Bass, Booger/ Cheezit, Dike.

Fly Fishing: Seeing some trout activity on the surface down by the dam in the evening. The Crappie are taking almost any offering!

Nature Walk: The guided walk will be rescheduled .The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true trout tactics, using Baits, Tube Jigs, and Lures along with Mini Jigs for Crappie, plus Night Crawlers for Bullheads.

Prognosis:!! The HOT weather is expected to cool off some, this will help with the trout action. Crappie and Bullheads are going to provide plenty of action for your angling pleasure. Bring the family to experience a wonderful day with us catching fish, going for a boat ride, picnicking, or just relax and enjoy the outdoors.
