Poway Ca ??? On Sunday July 27, something unique was pulled out of Lake Poway. A huge albino catfish, weighing 5.3 pounds, was caught by local Poway resident Jose Cartagena. Not only did Jose catch something he may never forget, but in the process he also won the Lake Poway Concessions weekly $100 cash prize for the largest catfish caught.

Cash fishing continues through Sunday September 6. Every Saturday the Lake Poway Grill and Tackle will award a $100 cash prize for the largest catfish caught during the previous fishing week (Wednesday through Sunday). The prize will be awarded at 7 p.m. on the Lake Poway Concession patio. The Lake will be stocked bi-weekly with catfish, and there are plenty of resident catfish left over from previous years. Night fishing will be available every Friday and Saturday, July 11 through September 6, from 4:00 pm ??? 11:30 pm.

Bring out the whole family! Night fishing is the perfect opportunity to experience the excitement of fishing. Friday night is also Family Night at the Lake Poway Grill and Tackle with specially priced meal deals. Fishing permits and a California State Fishing License are required and are available at the Lake Concession. Motorboats and rowboats can be rented and shoreline fishing is always available. Lake Poway is open for boating and fishing Wednesday through Sunday from sunrise to sunset, and during special night fishing hours.
