Fish Are Staying Deeper

Fish Are Staying Deeper

by Murray Reservoir Staff

Fishing has been a little slower as of recent. The fish are staying deeper in the afternoon at about 25-30 feet deep. Deep diving crank baits have been the most productive for bass in the afternoon along with squarebills and jerk-baits. The morning bite continues to be the best as the bass are moving along the shallows looking for crawdads and baitfish. Shad and baitfish imitations will be your best bet for sure. But make sure you get out here in the mornings to get the best bites. Bluegill fishing is still fairly good with larger bluegill being caught daily in the 1-2 pound range. Drop shot with baits such as wax worms, mealworms, redworms and crickets has been the way to go recently under the power lines.
