It has certainly been difficult to get out and do some fishing with the weather we have had this past week. For the few who were able to brave the conditions, the fishing has been surprising good. The anglers doing the best Bass fishing seem to be working in depths from 20 feet and shallower. We have been seeing fish around/ on beds but the colder temperatures have been keeping the bass from making that final push up. Most fish have been caught using smaller soft plastic swimbaits ( Keitech/ saucey swimmers) rigged weedless with a slower eve retrieve. Swim-jigs, chatter baits and crank baits have been working quite well too! As far as soft plastics: Morning dawn, margarita mutilaor, and midnight by roboworms have been best. The crappie and bluegill bite has been phenomenal with the overcast skies using drop-shot with crickets or crappie shiners. Make sure to yry the fly and bubble trick for crappie and trout.

We have seen several crappie being caught using small shiners. With the warmer weather and the longer days, the bass are starting to stage for spawning. Lake Murray is scheduled to receive a trout plant the week of the 26th, with this usually happening on Wednesdays. ...... Read More
