The trout bite has been sluggish, but should improve once the water has had time to settle after the rains. If conditions don’t improve by Wednesday the plant should do the trick. Big fish of the week belonged to Michael Villanueva of Temple City whose 8.40# trout was caught on a Fire-Tiger CD-3 at the east end of the lake. The most successful baits for trout this season have been mice tails and inflated nightcrawlers.

Largemouth bass can be found lurking around structure. They pursue crawdads, swimbaits, and dark colored plastics.

Crappie are being caught by boaters trolling for them. Crappie respond best to golden shiners or mini jigs.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake and favor cut-mackerel or chicken liver.
