Stocking: The last stocking was the week of July 12th. The next catfish stocking will be the week of August 2nd. For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
What's the catch? It was a cooler, cloudy weekend and the fish were active! We had lots of bass caught from the shoreline around Siesta Point and big rock on blue/black flake Senkos and shiners. Cats were biting in the evenings on shrimp, nightcrawlers, and mackerel. The most productive coves were Hermit, Cloister, and Shadow. Bluegill were biting all over the lake, but catches from the t-dock were the most abundant. Nightcrawlers and meal worms are doing the trick.
Conditions: The district has been drafting this month. Be aware of changing shorelines. The current temperature is 76 degrees. New Moon is Sunday, August 8th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
Job Openings: We're hiring for several positions at the lake. We are looking for a part-time Assistant Recreation Ranger to work in the bait shop as well as an Assistant Maintenance Ranger to help maintain the property and facilities. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding these positions, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page. In our campground, we are currently hiring for a Volunteer Park Host. Park Hosts work in our campground in exchange for a campsite that includes water and electricity under a month-to-month lease agreement. Inquiries about the Volunteer Park Host position can be directed to Helix Water District.
Lakefront Firepit Rentals: Firepit rentals are available at the lake Friday, August 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. They are $72 per pit and can accommodate up to 6 people. Wood, fire starter, and Adirondack chairs are included. Fees and advance reservation are required. No four-legged friends please! You can rent a firepit online by clicking HERE. If you'd like to purchase any of our add-on packages, i.e. s'mores kit, tailgate party, glow party, etc. call (619) 596-1306.
Campground News: The campground shoreline is open to the public for fishing every day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Buy a fishing permit at the campground kiosk and enjoy access to the Sentry Point shoreline. Don't forget to take a pic in the big green chair and tag us so we can load a free fishing permit on to your account!
