40-, 60-, and 80-pound test at night, 30 & 40 during the daylight hours is best.

There is a nice size area of Bio-mass Tuna, supporting boats from all four San Diego Landings, and Newport area boats too. I would guess over 100,000 plus tons. 100 square miles between the three areas. Fishing this 2021 has had some of the steadiest fishing in years. We did have a couple of hiccups when the wind blew. But is easy to see that over all fishing is very fun.
