  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout the week of April 4th. The last stocking is this week where another 1,500 pounds of trout will go into the lake!  A total of 20,000 pounds of trout was stocked this season! Stay tuned for information regarding catfish season.
  • What's the catch? Early morning hours were most productive as temperatures are rising. The trout bite is good as long as you go deep or find a steep drop off like the Shadow Cove shoreline. Our rangers still recommend powerbait and mini jigs. We heard the Bluegill were biting from the t-dock on pinched nightcrawlers. The catfish bite is starting to pick up. Sounds like there were at least two 10-15 pounders caught during spring break. No reports of bass, but we're sure there was some action this week. This time of year, the bass like shiners.   • Conditions: The aerator has been turned on for the season, so the water column will be more mixed and a consistent temperature. The surface temperature around the boat dock is 68 degrees. The sun is rising around 6:25 a.m. and setting around 7:15 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Fireside by the Lake: Lakefront firepits are available again on Saturday, May 7th, 6 pm to 9pm. Rentals are $72 and include lake entrance for up to 6 people. Fishing permits sold separately. Wood, Adirondack chairs, and fire starter are provided. Advance reservations are required. Reserve your firepit HERE.
  • New Moon Fishing: The lake will be open for New Moon Fishing on Saturday, May 7th 6 am to 10pm. New Moon Fishing is not just for fishermen! Take a sunset hike, BBQ in one of our many picnic areas located around the lake, fish for one of our resident monster catfish, or enjoy a starlit boat ride. We hope you can join us!
  • WE'RE HIRING!! We are hiring part-time Dockhands ($15/hour) to work on the boat dock. Dockhands help maintain our boat rental fleet, provide excellent customer service, and other duties as assigned. We are also hiring a part-time Assistant Maintenance Ranger ($16/hour) to work in the bait shop and help maintain the cleanliness/security of the property and facilities. Both positions work weekends and most holidays. Where else can you enjoy the sunrise and sunset, talk fishing, and watch the Bald Eagles play?   • Campground: Some mothers like flowers, some like a massage, but moms who like camping are the best! Mother's Day is Sunday, May 8th. It's not too late book a campsite for the weekend. Book your campsite TODAY.
