Stocking: So far, 11,600 pounds of trout have been stocked from Wright's Rainbows and DFW. Another 2,000 pounds of trout will go into the lake this week! Ten percent of every stock from Wright's Rainbows is over 3 pounds.
What's the catch? This weekend anglers caught trout in depths of 40-50 feet by boat or casting from Siesta Point with mini jigs or inflated nightcrawlers. With the stock this week, our rangers recommend fishing from shore in the shallow coves around the lake. The southeastern shoreline should be productive on Friday and Saturday morning. Try fishing Cactus patch or Eagle Cove on Sunday. If you rent a boat head to the Hermit Cove buoy line for trout.
Bluegill and Redear were biting on pieces of nightcrawler or meal worms in Half Moon and Cloister Coves. The panfish like the structure and shelter in these coves. Where there are panfish, the bass will be nearby! No reports of catfish this weekend.
Conditions: The lake is full and the water is well oxygenated throughout the water column with the temperature being 59.7 degrees. Ideal conditions for trout! The sun is rising at 6:45 a.m. and setting at 5:20 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
