Stocking: Catfish Opener is Memorial Day weekend where 1,500 pounds from Alpine Fishery will be stocked. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season. With catfish season comes night fishing! The lake will be open on Friday and Saturday until midnight beginning May 26th.
What’s the Catch? The catch was a healthy mix of bass and trout this weekend. Trout limits were fast and furious from the t-dock. Luis, to the left, caught his limit in under 30 minutes! Powerbait is your best bet and fish about 30-40 feet deep. Bass bites were plentiful again this weekend. Reports were that shiners were getting bites. We saw the bite from boats and shoreline. The panfish bite is heating up! The t-dock, Cloister, and Half Moon Coves are the best places to catch sunfish. Meal worms and wax worms are tried and true.
Conditions: The water temperature at the surface is currently 70 degrees, but around 35 feet deep the temp drops to 60. The aerator has been turned on for the season, so temperatures in the water column won’t fluctuate as they are currently. The sun is rising at 5:54 a.m. and setting at 7:36 p.m. New Moon is on May 19th. Looks to be in the 80s and sunny this weekend. Check out the local forecast below.
