21 anglers: 1 Bluefin Tuna. It seems like every year, at least for the past 5-6 years, we spend a very short period of our season targeting these giants. We spend the bulk of our season fishing for Yellowfin Tuna, Yellowtail and Dorado with an average weight of typically 10-20 pounds and the fish per angler ratio is drastically improved during this time, but this short window of targeting 100 to 200 pound Bluefin on Full Day trips is truly a special opportunity and we hope everyone will take advantage of it while it lasts.
Tackle recommendations:
(All are available to rent at H&M)
1. 30-40 pound flyline setup with size 1 and 2 circle hooks and fluorocarbon for Bluefin and 2/0 j-hooks for yellowtail.
2. 50-60 pound setup for fishing sinker rigs and SK jigs. 6 to 8 ounce torpedo sinkers. Also a good idea to bring some Daiwa Zakana jigs or other shiny dart style jigs in the 100 to 150 gram size.
3. Big Bluefin: 60-100lb outfit with a two speed reel to fish the sinker rig and 180-300 gram knife jigs. Not mandatory but you’ll wish you had it if the jumbos decide to play.
Trips will be departing seven days a week at 5:30am from H&M Landing.
Passports are NOT required. No fuel surcharges at this time. Free bunks available for all, please bring your own bedding.
