36 anglers: 9 Yellowfin Tuna. Very good sign today with a couple drifts having the tuna splash around us for long periods of time, but extremely unwilling to bite hooked baits. Also did battle with a few Bluefin probably pushing 80 pounds. The volume we saw today has us feeling like the next big hit is just around the corner. Definite go tomorrow with 14 open spots! Definite go Tuesday through Friday with lots of open spots.
Tackle recommendations:
(All are available to rent at H&M)
1. 30-40 pound flyline setup with size 1 and 2 circle hooks and fluorocarbon for Bluefin and 2/0 j-hooks for yellowtail.
2. 50-60 pound setup for fishing sinker rigs and SK jigs. 6 to 8 ounce torpedo sinkers. Also a good idea to bring some Daiwa Zakana jigs or other shiny dart style jigs in the 100 to 150 gram size.
Trips will be departing seven days a week at 5:30am from H&M Landing.
Passports are NOT required. No fuel surcharges at this time. Free bunks available for all, please bring your own bedding. Return times may be later than expected.
