Stocking: One thousand pounds of catfish was stocked the week of August 21st. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be next week! So far 5,500 pounds of catfish have been stocked this season.  Nightfishing will continue through the month of October. Don’t forget your lantern!

What’s the Catch? The overcast skies and cooler weather were great for fishing this weekend. LOTS of bass, large and small, caught all over the lake from the coves around the boat dock to Hermit Cove. Sounds like green pumpkin varieties of Senkos and Zoom worms were reeling them in. Bluegill were biting on red worms in Half Moon Cove and from the t-dock. The catfish bite was slower than usual, but the bite picked up on Sunday morning. Mackerel and chicken livers were doing the trick. Most cats are being reeled in by boat near Shadow Cove and Eggert Point, but we did hear of some nibbles in Siesta Cove.

Conditions: The water temperature is a balmy 80 degrees. The evenings have cooled down a good bit, so we expect the water temp to follow suit in the coming weeks. Be aware of shallow structure if you’re in a boat especially around the points. The next new moon is September 14th. The sun is rising at 6:26 a.m. and setting at 7:06 p.m.
