The lake will remain closed for fishing and to the general public on weekdays throughout the fall, as it does every year, we will return to our seven day a week schedule in December at the beginning of trout season.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake, but bite best at either end. Martin Arenas of Escondido while fishing for bass west of Senior Shoreline caught a 34.30 # Blue Catfish. Fall is the time when the larger catfish become more voracious in their feeding habits. Lake Wohlford cats like chicken liver, shrimp, or cut mackerel.

Crappie are being caught in small numbers near bass point, underneath the crappie float, and at Crappie Rock. Crappie bite mini-jigs and live golden shiners. They prefer the cover of shade and bite best early in the morning or late in the day.

The bass are in tight to shore feasting on the abundant shad. They are hitting on swimbaits, lures, and plastics that replicate shad or bluegill.
