The trout bite remains slow due to the staining from all the rains. In murky conditions having some scent on your bait can make all the difference.

Catfish which are less reliant on sight are unhampered by murky conditions. Francisco Aguirre of Escondido hauled in a 34.10# blue catfish on Senior Shoreline using cut mackerel. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.

The first of two consecutive trout plants went in this week. Micetails, hook-up baits, powerbait (greens& yellows), along with inflated nightcrawlers are all doing well. Largemouth bass are being caught bordering the reed beds near senior shoreline. Bass are often intrigued by swimbaits, anything that looks like a crawdad, or dark colored plastics.
