The trout fishing has picked up a little as a result of this week’s stock. Some anglers have had limited success with salmon eggs on the east end. Nancy Reynaga of Los Angeles had the biggest trout of the week with her 4.00# caught on a nightcrawler in Boat Dock Cove.
Small to medium sized bass are being caught around structure. Vince Catalanotto of Escondido caught & released and 8.20# bass while fishing for trout on the first pier in Boat Dock Cove using a jig. They respond well to swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
Crappie are being caught in decent numbers at the Crappie Float and by boaters trolling for them. Randy Eddo of Escondido caught a 2.10# crappie while trolling past the South Shore Rock Pile with a small rapala lure. Crappie are most often caught on mini-jigs or live golden shiners.
