The trout bite remains slow. Fish stocks that are fewer, and farther between and we continue to get rain every few days causing runoff that make the water slow to clear.
As the water continues to warm the bass are becoming increasingly active. They respond well to swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
The lilacs are in bloom on the surrounding hillsides and with the arrival of spring, and warmer temperatures, the Crappie will move from their winter haunts into shallower waters to spawn. It hasn’t happened yet, but it is rapidly approaching. Crappie are most often caught on mini-jigs or live golden shiners.
Catfish are biting throughout the lake but particularly at the eastern end. Lake Wohlford cats prefer mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.
