Catfish Season: We stocked 1,500 pounds of Channel Catfish from Alpine Fishery the week of May 20th. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of June 17th. A total of 8,500 pounds of catfish will be stocked this season.
What’s the Catch? Limits of trout were caught north of the t-dock near the entrance of Half Moon Cove on Garlic Trout Nibbles and nightcrawlers last weekend. Schools of panfish are also hanging around Half Moon Cove. Multiple reports of sizeable Redear biting on meal worms. The catfish bite is best as soon as the sun goes down otherwise try fishing shaded shoreline during the day. Rangers recommend fishing pieces of mackerel near rock piles. No reports of bass last weekend.
Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 72 degrees. June gloom prevails in the morning, but by noon the marine layer usually disperses and the afternoons are sunny. The lake is well oxygenated. The sun is rising at 5:42 a.m. and setting at 7:50 p.m.
Please be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. The lake elevation is 677’. The lake draw is complete. It will remain at the current elevation until construction is complete.
