Stocking: Lake Jennings was freshly stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish this week! Another 1,000 pounds of catfish will be added the week of October 14th, which will be the last stocking of the season! In total 8,500 pounds of catfish were stocked this season. 

What’s the Catch?  Fishermen were reeling in gills, catfish and bass last weekend. Bluegill were schooling in the shallows of Half Moon and Eagle Coves. Meals worms and pieces of nightcrawlers were reeling them in. Try dropping your bait just outside of the tulles where the gills shelter from bass. The bass will not be far from the panfish in the channels of the coves, but we had reports of bass caught off the Hermit Cove buoy line and big rock. Brightly colored jigs were luring them. And finally, the catfish! Catfish a-plenty last weekend from shore and by boat. The Siesta Cove shoreline near the old boat dock was a popular place to set up for catfish. From boat, Eggert’s Point and off of the tower buoy line were also good places for catfish. They seem to be biting on a little bit of everything from worms and nightcrawlers, to dip baits and shrimp. They’re not picky! Have a variety of baits on hand so you can change it up if one isn’t working.  

Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 79 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:39 a.m. and setting at 6:38 p.m. The next New Moon is October 2nd. The district has completed the lake fill and the t-dock is open.
