Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked last week. The next stocking will be the week of December 29th. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April. In sum, we will stock 19,000 pounds of trout this season with some additional stockings from DFW.

What’s the Catch? Following last week’s stocking, anglers were seeing plenty of action along the shoreline. The newly stocked Rainbow Trout are spreading out quickly. Hot spots include Hermit Cove, Cactus Patch, and the Eagle Point. PowerBait in garlic chartreuse, orange, and rainbow has been top producers. Anglers tossing small spinners and mini jigs in yellow are also reporting steady hookups, especially during the early morning and late afternoon.

Largemouth are shadowing the trout. Swimbaits, downsized drop-shots, and finesse worms along points and structure are getting the occasional quality bite.

Cats are active around deeper coves. Anglers fishing mackerel or garlic nightcrawlers off the bottom near Sentry Point and Siesta Cove continue to land a few solid fish especially around sunset.

Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.

Conditions: The current water temperature is 69 degrees. Water clarity is improving after the recent stock. Light winds and stable weather have made for ideal fishing. The days are getting shorter with the sun rising at 6:40 a.m. and setting at 4:42 p.m. The new moon is on December 19th. Join us on the 20th for New Moon Fishing.
