Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked this week bringing the total stock this season to 8,500 pounds. We will continue to stock Rainbow Trout through April.
What’s the Catch?
Rainbow trout have been stocked and are actively biting along the shoreline. Productive areas include Hermit Cove, Cactus Patch, and Eagle Point. Best baits right now are PowerBait (garlic chartreuse, orange, rainbow), nightcrawlers, small spinners and mini jigs. Early morning and late afternoon are prime times.
Bass are active and shadowing trout, especially around structure, points, and drop-offs. Effective baits include swimbaits, drop-shot rigs, and finesse worms. Reports of quality bass being caught during cooler parts of the day.
Catfish are present and biting around deeper coves. Try mackerel, garlic nightcrawlers, or shrimp on bottom rigs near Sentry Point and Siesta Cove. Night fishing will increase action this weekend.
Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.
Conditions: The current water temperature is 64 degrees. Stability in weather and light winds is making for good overall fishing conditions. With the solstice, the days are getting longer! The sun is rising at 6:50 a.m. and setting at 5:05 p.m
