Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout was stocked last week. DFW added another 600 pounds this week. Our next planned stocking is the week of March 2nd. Total trout stocked so far this season is 11,500 pounds from Idaho plus the addition of DFW stockings throughout the season.

What’s the Catch? Productive shoreline spots for trout include Cactus Patch and Eagle Point. 

Trout have been reported spread throughout various coves, so keep moving if you’re not getting bites. Powerbait in garlic chartreuse, salmon peach, and rainbow have all been top producers from shore. Nightcrawlers fished off the bottom or under a float, especially early/late in the day have also been effective. 

Bass have been feeding aggressively, especially in the pre-spawn, cool water conditions with temps holding in the mid 60s (°F). They have feeding around coves and structure. Look for drop offs in Sentry and Half Moon Coves. Trout patterned swimbaits and Senkos on drop shot or Texas rigs have been working well. Early morning and late afternoon are prime time for bass.

During night fishing, plenty of cats moved to the shallows after sunset. The average catch was in the 2-5 pound range. Mackerel, chicken liver, garlic shrimp, and dip baits were all working last Saturday.

Closures this weekend: On Friday, February 20th, Hermit Cove 1 will be closed all day for an event rental. Hermit Cove 2 will also be closed from 1:00 p.m. until the lake closes at 5:00 p.m.. Saturday and Sunday they will both be fully available as normal. 

Conditions: The current water temperature is 64 degrees. The sun is rising at 6:27 a.m. and setting at 5:37 p.m. The lake elevation remains steady at 695’. The next new moon will be March 18th.
