Stocking: Catfish Opener was the weekend of Memorial Day where we stocked 1,500 pounds of catfish from Alpine Fishery for the opener. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of June 8th. We will continue to stock catfish at regular intervals through October.
What’s the catch? Freshly stocked catfish are being caught from both shore and boats.
Evening and night fishing continues to produce the best action as water temperatures rise.
Catfish are holding along drop-offs, rocky shorelines, and the mouths of coves where they can forage after dark. Best Baits include chicken liver, mackerel, green garlic shrimp, and dough baits. Fishing these baits on the bottom during the late afternoon through midnight hours has been the most productive approach. Half Moon and Shadow Cove are hot spots.
Don’t forget to share your catch! Tag us on social media with #LakeJennings for a chance to be featured in our next report.
Conditions: The aerator has been turned on. Temps throughout the water column are more stable. The surface temperature around the boat dock is holding steady at 72.2 degrees. The sun is rising at 5:40 a.m. and setting at 7:53 p.m.
