Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout bite continues to be an iffy proposition. Limits were caught but scattered all over the lake. Some trout were caught on lures in the backs of Hermit and Half Moon Coves. Others got skunked in the same spots using the same lures. Bass are also hit and miss having moved into the post spawn. For some reason no one has been targeting the cats... so we don't have a report.

Best Trout Spots: All the coves and the concrete steps.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Salmon Peach Power Bait.
Best Catfish Spots: The bird trees.
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel or nightcrawlers. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: 25 ft on all the points.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Crawdads, Ikas and jigs.

Notables: Sun., Johnny Dobbs (pictured left), 4-8 largemouth, oxblood drop shot, rock pile.
Prognosis: Same as last week. The bass are almost done with the majority of fish in post-spawn. The trout inventory remains high. Boaters are outfishing bankies because the trout are suspended in the middle of the lake. Our first catfish plant will be mid-May, but you don't have to wait because there is a large carryover from last year.

Water Temperature: 65 degrees on the surface.
Current Schedule: Lake Jennings will be open this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Coming Soon: Night fishing starts May 21, 2010!

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about catfishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from your Lake Jennings! We sent a lot of people to Vons and Albertsons this weekend for a fish dinner. "Cause it was not happening here." There was 1 trolling limit for trout, and that was about it. The bass were hiding, and the cats only made a couple of appearances. We don't have an explanation. Best Trout Spots: Cactus Patch and the concrete steps. Best Trout Lures/Bait: Salmon Peach Power Bait. Best Catfish Spots: The bird trees. Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel or nightcrawlers. Hello from your Lake Jennings! The trout bite was excellent if you were in a few select spots. It was horrible if you were not. The bass bite slowed. A lot of bass were on the bank but crystal clear water gave them lockjaw unless you used 4 to 6 lb. test. The better bite was in 20' to 30' ft of water dropshotting purple and pink worms. Cats are starting to be caught under the bird trees. Best Trout Spots: Cactus Patch and the...... Read More
