In order to protect the integrity of Lake Morena Watershed the following Restrictions are now in effect -
ALL LIVE BAIT FISH AND CRAYFISH ARE PROHIBITED!
Lake Conditions: Surface temp.49.7 and 49.2 @ 20 ft. Water visibility is 3' to 5'
. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Winter fishing is still doing great at Lake Morena. Fishing remains consistent with great action on Trout reported from our anglers.
Trout: Anglers are still finding rainbows using gold Kastmaster, night crawlers, power bait, Shad raps, spinners and rapalas near the dam and Paradise cove. Other areas are opening up such as Pumphouse cove. We've had plenty of anglers but few reporters. Tom Deane from Campo has had a great week limiting three times so far. Lewis Bertussi from El Cajon pulled in a 28 lb stringer with Powerbait near the dam. Deron Higgins from Boulevard fooled several rainbows off of Geezer cove. Jim Hill of Campo caught his limit trolling the middle of the lake with Rapalas. Best bet is to rent one of our boats and work the lake.
Carp: Still splashing, they like corn and corn meal balls.
Bass: No action on the Bass lately.
Blue Gill: No action on the Blue Gill here lately.
Crappie: No sign of Crappie this time of year.
Catfish: Duke Neilsen pulled in two hefty cats in the dam area. Total weight was 9 lbs 2 oz with the largest being 5 lbs 10 oz. If you have the Mackerel or Nightcrawlers then the Cats are biting near the dam.
Lake Conditions: Surface temp.49.7 and 49.2 @ 20 ft. Water visibility is 3' to 5'
