Water Clarity Water visibility is at about 3' to 5' depending on the wind.

** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.

Trout Just a few short months until the stockings begin again.

Bass The Bass are being caught in the 1 to 2lb range through the middle of the lake and near the mouth of Cottonwood creek. All caught and released. Brian Scott is still fooling the smaller Bass with his Seiko and silver plastics.

Catfish The catfish have populated Pumphouse cove and lately migrated to paradise cove. Popular baits included mackerel and night crawlers and, believe it or else, Powerbait. Michael Batey of Campo and Deon Jackson, pictured above from San Diego, limited using mackerel the largest a 6 lb 4 oz channel. Ray Holden and Lisa Lopez from San Diego worked the cabin cove for limits totaling over 24lbs. Ed Bossard from Monterey, Ca. fooled a prized 10lb 2oz Blue cat in paradise cove. Two days later he brought out Mom Emma and our native son Tom Bossard all limited with powerbait, nightcrawlers and mackerel in paradise cove.

Blue Gill Pumphouse Cove was the spot for the gills but other rocky areas were also working as well. Many were caught while combing the depths for other species. Abraham Rivas from Chula Vista brought home a stringer of 16 gills using dry crickets along the shore at geezer cove.

Crappie The crappie bite has show up once again in small quantities for the patient. Trolling the middle was the tip this week.

Carp These fish are saving themselves for another time
