Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day Bass boats are available Mon-Thurs for 35$ each.
Trout fishing remains good with some limits being reported out of Boat Dock Cove. The big news this week was Phanomvanh Kounborin's 16.95# Trout which broke the lake record set in 1999. Mr. Khounborin's fish was caught on Sunday on a nightcrawler on the southern shore between Crappie Rock and Bass Point. Other notable catches included; Enrico Punzalan's 8.85# and Wayne Ring's 7.60# trout. Boat Dock Cove and west of Senior Shoreline have been the best locations for trout. Powerbait and or powerworms (mostly greens and yellows), inflated nightcrawlers, and salmon eggs have been the top baits.
The pre-spawn of the Largemouth Bass has begun and small to medium Bass can be found near structure. As the days grow longer and closing times are pushed back the half day bass boat rentals become more of a value. Swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics are all excellent baits early in the season.
