Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day Bass boats are available weekdays for 35$ each.

On Saturday July 6th we will be hosting a Catfish derby. The event will run from 6 a.m. until midnight. Prizes will be awarded in three categories with an overall biggest Catfish prize of $500 to be given out. The three categories are adults, active military, and youth. With all prizes in the form of Bass Pro Shops gift cards. Each category will have a first, second and third prize of gift cards for $200, $100 and $50 respectively. No state fishing license is needed for this event. A valid City of Escondido Lakes fishing permit is required.

There will also be a fundraising breakfast and raffle hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 149 followed by a luncheon. All of the proceeds from which going to the (Purple Heart Hero Support), an outreach program of www.marineparents.com.

Bass can be found around structure and are hitting crawdads, shad raps, and dark colored plastics. Jeff Hodges of valley center caught and released a 7.15# Bass Sunday using a senko worm near the West Buoys. Bass fishing is at its best in the early mornings and late afternoons.
