Hello Pacific Queen Anglers,
Fishing had been very good up until about a week ago. We were scratching at Bluefin Tuna while having insane Yellowtail fishing. There was 10-14lb. Yellowtail everywhere, to the point where they were hard to drive away from. You couldn't get within a boat length of a kelp without getting a jig strike and having them rush the boat. It was really good to say the least.
Well, things kicked up a notch this last week when the large volume of Bluefin Tuna that we had been scratching at decided to bite. We went from very good fishing to almost too good to be true fishing. Bitting 25-50lb. Bluefin with the occasional 60lb. plus fish in the mix to go along with the Yellowtail fishing we had already had. On three consecutive 1.5 day trips we had 122, 133, and 110 Bluefin for our trip. It has been so good that on all three trips I witnessed guys putting down there gear and taking a break while the fish were still bitting. These fish are brutes and have been wearing our anglers down. It has been one of the better stretches of fishing we have seen in a long time. We have definitely caught more but the quantity combined with the quality has been truly impressive.
With such insane fishing our trips have been filling up in a hurry. I believe we only have 6 trips in the entire month of August with availability. If you want to come fishing with us now is the time to sign up. We will fill up.
I suggest bringing out 30 lb, 40 lb, and 50 lb bait outfits with fresh line. Flourocarbon leaders and circle hooks (2/0 and 3/0) have also been helping us land more of what we hook.
We still have a few dates available for charter in September and October so if you would like to reserve the boat call Drew at 714-720-6973.
We hope to see you all aboard very soon!
