The NEW LO-AN is currently out on a 1.5 day with 32 anglers, they have 30+ Bluefin Tuna 40-60lbs along with a bunch of Yellowtail. ALL BLUEFIN TUNA WERE 40-60lbs with some bigger fish being broken off before color was seen. We are still seeing big fish so that means BIG TACKLE!!! Minimum of 40LB TEST LINE AND 2/0-4/0 hooks.
In addition to the offshore stuff, The MISSION BELLE has been finding Yellowtail in the 20-30lb class just south of the border on there Freelance 3/4 day trips. Fish have been fooled with fin bait, surface irons and heavy yo-yo jigs. Trips are scheduled daily from 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. and the cost is $105.00 with the Mexican Permit included. Tackle is available for rent for an additional $15.00 per rod and reel. *PHOTO I.D. REQUIRED FOR ALL PASSENGERS OF ALL AGES*.
The fishing season is not over yet. As we transition from Summer to Fall, we are still amazed at the volume, size and aggressiveness of these Bluefin Tuna. We are still seeing great numbers of Dorado and Yellowtail and we are still awaiting the explosion of these Yellowfin Tuna. DON'T START BREAKING DOWN THE TACKLE JUST YET!!! We have some epic trips lined up to get you offshore and on the fish!!!! Watch for trips through October aboard the EL CAPITAN, DOMINATOR, NEW LO-AN and we have a few more tips aboard the EL DORADO.
DAILY DOUBLE is targeting Rockfish and Bass. Trips Monday-Friday are 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. On Saturdays and Sundays we still offer the morning and afternoon run from 6:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M. Adults are $45.00, the required state license is $14.61 for the day and rental tackle is available for $13.00 per person.
*LOBSTER & CRAB HOOPING*
The POINT LOMA will be offering Twilight Hooping trips targeting Lobster and Crab starting on the 9th of this month. Trips are 6:15 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. Cost is $50.00 per person and limited to 10 people max. Price includes use of Hoop, Bait and Lobster Gauge. Anyone over 16 years of age will need both the CA. License as well as Lobster report card. Kids under 16 will only need the Lobster Report Card. CA. License is $14.61 and the Report Card is $9.46. Both can be obtained from us here on site before departure.
*BLUEFIN TUNA TACKLE*
On these schools of tuna, DO NOT BOTHER WITH LINE LIGHTER THAN 30LB TEST. You want to have at least one rig with 50-60lb line. Hooks can be 2/0-5/0 and paired with fluorocarbon will be your best bet at landing these not so gentle giants. 2 speed reels can make a world of difference. If your trip is overnight or longer, plan tackle accordingly.
*YELLOWFIN TUNA TACKLE* These Yellowfin have been mixed size from 12-45lbs. They are pretty eager to bite the 30-40lb line. 2/0-3/0 hooks, fluorocarbon and reels with smooth drag are all you need. These fish are not quite as capable of destroying tackle like these Bluefin we have been fishing. Yellowfin are also no stranger to surface plugs or yo-yo jigs.
