Lake Conditions- Surface temperature is 58 Fahrenheit. The water visibility is about 2 to 4 ft. We are no longer drafting, Lake Gauge is at 84'7"


** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.

Trout- Trout are biting strong. This week anglers have been catching many four and five pounders. First picture is Dennis Macias from El Cajon. He caught a five pound four ounce trout. Second picture is of William Porefoy and Ray Holder. They caught some trout and catfish. Their largest trout was four pounds and twelve ounces. Jim Pechota from Dulzura caught an eight pound trout. Anglers have been using rapalas, night crawlers, lures, and power bait.

Bass - Bass are being caught, but has been slow.

Catfish - Catfish are biting fairly well.

Blue Gill - The Gills have not been around.

Crappie - Crappie are not showing either.

Carp - Carp are still schooling all around the lake so if they are the ones you want it should be no problem

Boat Launch conditions: Private boat launch is closed until further notice.

The speed limit on land and water is 10mph. Before launch all boats will be inspected for Quagga. Boats must be CLEAN and DRY. If you do not pass inspection you will not be able to launch for that day. The launch fees are $8.00 per day. Motorboats, kayaks, canoes, float tubes and sailboards must pay fee.

The lake is open daily for fishing and boating. Park hours for fishing and day use are roughly from sunrise to sunset. No swimming at Lake Morena Park. Motorboats and rowboats are available for rent 7 days a week. Motorboats rent for $30 M-F and $50 S-S. No reservations taken on boats. Fishing permits M-F for Adults $5.00, Youth age 10 to15 $2.00, Seniors 62+ $3.00. Weekends and Holidays for Adults $7.00, Youth $3.00, Seniors $5.00.

South Shore Campground: Reservations are recommended for camping at the main campground on the South Shore. This campground offers partial hookup sites (water and electric), as well as several developed sites. The main restroom offers hot showers and flush toilets, and is handicapped accessible. Lake Morena dump station is currently-OPEN. North Shore Primitive Campground: This campground is closed until further notice.
