To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Opening day of trout season is less than a month away. The upcoming season holds a lot of promise with increases in both the sizes of the initial plant and the total volume of fish for the season. Be sure and mark Saturday, Dec. 13th on your calendar as opening day of trout season at Lake Wohlford.

Bass fishing has been decent with mostly small to medium sized bass being reported. Bass can be found near structure and respond best to crawdads, and dark colored plastics.

Catfish can be found throughout the lake. The best baits for catfish are cut mackerel or chicken liver. Drop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.

Crappie can be found sporadically around sunrise in the cover of overhangs or in and amongst submerged trees. Crappie are most often caught on live golden shiners or with a Crappie jig.
