Happy Labor Day Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: !! STOCKING !! 1,700 lbs of trout this week from Mt. Lassen for the Labor Day Festivities.?? Water temps have the Bass, Channel Catfish and the always popular Crappie providing the action. Large mouth bass have been active with results on plastics and top water. Crappie are still looking for small tube jigs.?? Bullhead catfish are very aggressive??in seeking out?? your night crawler on the bottom.

Trout Bait:30-36 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait,?? salmon eggs.??Night Crawler 12inches below a bobber.?? (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)

Best Trout Lures:?? Gold/yellow-orange Panther Martins, Yellow Rooster Tails and Tube Jigs. Use scent!?? (Krill gel works best)??

Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Shore line by dam buoy line, Dike.

Notable:?? Jeremiah Wallock, Julian, 21lbs 4oz Channel Catfish, Night Crawler, South Buoy Line. Tom Druch, San Diego, 9lbs 8oz Channel Catfish, Shrimp Power Bait, Shore. David Velenzuela, Spring Valley, 5lbs Largemouth Bass, Blue/Brown Plastic worm, Tee-Dock.?? (Lots of Limits of Crappie)

Fly Fishing: Lots of surface action by the trout, and Crappie try Emergers, Nymphs, and Elk Hair Caddis, ???? This should produce something besides Crappie, which will take just about anything.????

Nature Walk: The guided walk will be conducted by Clint Powell September 2, 2007.The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: ?? Ranger Willard will teach??tried and true trout techniques using?? bait, tube jigs and lures for Trout, Crappie and Bullheads.??

Prognosis:!! With the scheduled stocking from Mt. Lassen this week the trout action should pick up. Look for a early morning bite with bait or Rooster Tails (yellow or green).?? The Bass action in the South End?? during the evening has been producing some good results using top water Plugs,?? Frogs, Buzz Baits, Plastic worms.?? Be sure to come up and catch some Crappie (any time) use small tube jigs or meal worms.
