To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The trout bite is brisk following Wednesday's plant with both size and numbers coming out of Boat Dock Cove and along Senior Shoreline. Bill Alaksin of Temecula had the biggest trout of the week weighing 10.25#s it was caught on rainbow powerbait in Boat Dock Cove. Dennis Young of Valley Center caught an 8.20# fish earlier in the week using powerbait on Senior Shoreline. Sam Avila of Vista landed an 8.15# trout on green powerbait also in Boat Dock Cove. Green or yellow powerbait along with inflated nightcrawlers are the top baits.

The catfish bite remains strong. Caprece Pressley known to many as "Catfish Cap" weighed in an 8.50# cat he caught on cut mackerel at the west buoy line earlier in the month Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the ranger station for a doughbait recipe that works well for both catfish and carp.
