Dock closes: 7:00 P.M
Last Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 31st.
Next Plant: Trout in December.
Water temperature: At surface 77.64 f., 5.16 D.O. @ 10’ 76.93 f., 4.74 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering 20$ all day motor boats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake is closing for weekday fishing after Labor Day beginning Sept. 8th. We will remain open on weekends only until mid-December and the first trout plant.
Catfish are biting throughout the lake. Cut mackerel and chicken liver are the top baits for cats. Stop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that is excellent for catfish.
Largemouth bass can be found around structure. They respond best to crawdads, shad raps, or dark colored plastics.
Crappie and Bluegill are still being caught in small numbers. Crappie generally prefer the cover of shade and top baits are crappie jigs, red worms, or live golden shiners.
