Bass fishing has been steadily improving with the warmer air temps early in the week. Jigs, senkos, flukes, jerk baits, swimbaits, you name it, they all got bit. Most of the largemouth were 1.5 to 2lbs., with some 4lb and Slb fish checked into the marina. Matt Green of El Cajon weighed in a 5.8 bass taken in the Kimball arm on a senko.

Green caught and released approximately 8 more on the same bait last Friday. There were some rumors of a 60lb blue catfish caught and released last week, and those targeting the lakes whiskerfish population had varied results.

There was also some nice panfish caught, but not in any numbers, most of which were incidental catches on shiners.

It was another good week of bass fishing for the most part, as fish have been moving up looking to spawn. Jerk baits, senkos, drop shot, and swimbaits all took their share of largemouth. The bite should steadily improve with some consistent warm air temperatures. Panfish have yet to show up in any numbers, as only a handful of crappie were checked in at the marina last week. With only a few people targeting catfish, reports were hard to come...... Read More

Hulbert used cut mackerel to subdue a pair of 25lbers, and a 45lb kicker, all released....... Read More
