Catching the Spotlight
Another great week of fishing! Popular baits for catfish this week have been shrimp and mackerel. Nic (top left) caught this 6 pound largemouth on a senko out of Lake 5. Brenner caught this largemouth out of Lake 5 on a soft plastics. Ray and Benicio caught this catfish out of Lake 4 on mackerel. Tony caught this 10.4 pound largemouth out of Lake 6 on a lipless crankbait.
Join us for our next Night Fishing event on July 26th, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Lanterns are required and radios will not be permitted. No state license required. Lakes 1 through 4 only. Our next scheduled stock will be on Friday July 27th, 2018 of 1,000 pounds of catfish split between two lakes.
Lake lowdown
Avg. Water Temp: 81.5°F
Water Clarity: 8 ft.
The bass bite continues to heat up with many reports of fish on soft plastics such as drop shots, senkos, and fat ikas. The catfish bite has been wide open with many reports of fish on shrimp in the early mornings and late evenings. Bluegill have been seen along the shoreline and hiding in weeds and in rock structures. Poplar baits for bluegill are meal worms and wax worms.
