  • Stocking: Catfish Season is here! The lake was stocked with 1,000 lbs. of catfish for our opener last week. Another 1,000 lbs. will be stocked the week of July 27th.
  • What's the catch? The catfish were hanging around Shadow Cove and Cloister Cove this weekend. They were caught on nightcrawlers and chicken liver. Bass and Bluegill catches were plentiful again this weekend. Both were caught off of the t-dock and Sentry Point. Bluegill were reeled in all over the lake. Bass were being caught on drop shot as well as purple and black worms. Redear Sunfish can be the best fish to catch during the heat of the afternoon if you're not having any luck with catfish. Bait your hook with a wax or mealworm.
  • Dock Update: The dock installation is progressing. The crew was able to get the anchorage system in place last week. The question of the week... when will night fishing return? As soon as the lights are installed on the new dock, we will release more dates for night fishing. Stay tuned!
  • Ranger Fishing Tips: One of the best things about cat fishing is you don’t have to be an expert on fishing. All you need is some basic gear. The equipment should be geared towards the size you have chosen to fish. The rangers fish in the 2-15 lb. range, so base their gear on that range. You'll need a good spinning rod and reel combo and medium size rated combo at 20 lb. test fishing line. The rangers recommend #4 to #6 bait hooks or J-style hook using sinkers split shot and egg sinkers for our lake. There are a number of baits to choose from, however the recommended baits are nightcrawlers, mackerel, shrimp, chicken and beef liver. Good luck!
  • Conditions: The water temperature is 80 degrees. For an up-to-date weather forecast in Lakeside click HERE.
  • Boat Rentals are available first-come first-served! All those in a boat must be from a shared household unit to a maximum of 5 people. Boats may be limited due to sanitation requirements. To save time and limit staff contact, please print, sign and bring with you, the boat waiver found HERE.
  • Lake COVID Regulations: Only one family unit in the bait shop at a time and everyone must wear a mask both in line and in the bait shop. Hand washing facilities are available at the bathrooms adjoining the bait shop. Please maintain social distancing at all times. Card payment is preferred. Fishing on the campground shoreline is for registered campers only. Please help us stay open by complying with these simple measures to keep our staff and the public safe. Thank you for your cooperation!
  • Attention Walkers: Access between Eagle Point and Sentry Point is only available to registered campers to better control occupancy in the campground. There are still no day users or visitors permitted into the campground. No dogs are permitted on the recreation side of the lake.
  • WE'RE HIRING! Love the lake as much as we do? We're hiring Dockhands to provide excellent customer service to lake visitors and maintain our boat rental fleet. Dockhands work weekends and holidays at the lake. We're also looking for Park Hosts to work in our campground. Exchange a minimum of 20 hours per week (includes weekends and holidays) for a campsite that includes water and electricity under a month-to-month lease agreement. For more information or to apply, please visit  Helix Water District's job site.
